This document details the basic functions of the various control stations in a starship. Note that in smaller ships, multiple functions are combined into a single room. This document does not detail more advanced or more specific commands that may become available as you progress and upgrade your ship, just to keep it simple.
Control Room
Sensors
- STARMAP, or SM: View a graphical display of the sector.
- RUNDOWN, or RD: View a coordinate rundown (basically a non-graphical alternative to the starmap).
- COORDINATES, or COORD: View the ship's current coordinates.
- SCAN: Scan other ships in the sector.
- DAMAGE: View the ship's damage level.
- SHIPS: View other ships in the sector, and their coordinates.
- SHIPCLASS: View the classes of ships in the sector.
Navigation
- POWER: Turn the ship's power on or off.
- LAUNCH: Launch the ship from a landing pad or docking bay.
- FTL, WARP, or JUMP: Use the ship's wormhole drive to jump to another sector. Can be used to display a list of available jump destinations.
- MOVE, or M: Move the ship within a sector.
- MANUAL: Switch the ship to manual movement.
- AUTOPILOT: Switch the ship to autopilot.
- STOP: Stop the ship's autopilot, or halt other types of travel.
- ETA, or SPEED: Show how fast the ship is moving and, if moving, when it will arrive.
- DOCK: Dock to another ship.
- UNDOCK: Undock from a ship.

Communication
- GENERAL: Speak on the sector's general channel.
- GENTO [ship]: Direct a general message to a particular ship.
- LINK: Set up a private comm link with another ship in the sector.
- BREAK: Break a comm link.
- EXTERNAL [message]: Use the external speakers.
Industrial
- SALVAGE: Take in a small piece of debris.
- GRAPPLE: Grapple a debris chunk.
- DEBRIS: Perform a debris chunk scan.
- TRANSFER: Transfer items from the storage hold to a spaceport, or to another ship.
- DESTINATION: View the destinations of mail, courier deliveries, or passengers aboard. Also used in rescue pods to change your destination.
- EXPEL: Jettison items from the storage hold.
- STORAGE or CARGO: View items in the storage hold.
Combat
- GREEN, YELLOW, or RED: Change the ship's alert status. Ships must be on red alert to fire weapons.
- TRACK: Assign target(s) to the target tracking array.
Emergency
- SELF-DESTRUCT: Begin the process of destroying the ship.
- ESCAPE: Launch an escape pod. Leaves the ship intact, but empty.
- AUTH: Set a code which will be required to authorize self-destruct.
- ABORT: Abort self-destruct.
- DISTRESS: Transmit a distress call, notifying your alliance of your location and putting local forces on alert (if applicable).
Utility
- CHARGE: Shows the current charge level of the ship's main battery.
- SETTINGS: Shows the settings of certain starship options and the commands to change them.
Weapons Room
Sensors
- STARMAP, or SM: View a graphical display of the sector.
- RUNDOWN, or RD: View a coordinate rundown (basically a non-graphical alternative to the starmap).
- WEAPONS: View weapons status.
- GRID, AMMO, and TARGET: Show individual portions of the WEAPONS status display.
- COORDINATES, or COORD: View the ship's current coordinates.
- SHIPS: View other ships in the sector, and their coordinates.
Aiming
- AIM, LOCK, or /: Aim at a vector or coordinates.
- LOCKMODE: Toggle between vector and coordinate locking.

Firing
- LASER (as appropriate), CHAINGUN (as appropriate), or LIGHT: Fire the starship's light weaponry.
- TORPEDO (as appropriate), MINICANNON (as appropriate), or HEAVY: Fire the starship's heavy weaponry.
- RELOAD: Reload ammunition from the ship's storage.
- WEAPONS, or GRID: View weapons and combat energy grid status.
- BYPASS: If you possess a weapon safety bypass key, this will use or retrieve it.
Engineering Room
Sensors
- STARMAP, or SM: View a graphical display of the sector.
- RUNDOWN, or RD: View a coordinate rundown (basically a non-graphical alternative to the starmap).
Damage Control
- DAMAGE: View the ship's damage level. Toggle display of undamaged components using the OPTIONS command.
- AVERAGE, or AVG: View the ship's overall, average damage level.
- REPAIR [component]: Begin repairs of the ship's component. Valid components are hull, sensors, turret, launcher, or FTL.
Utility
- STATUS: View the ship's component status and list of upgrades.
- SYSTEMS: Open the power systems panel. Use with caution and careful forethought.
Airlock
- CYCLE: Cycle the airlock to allow you to transition to a hostile environment before exiting the ship. Spacesuit strongly recommended.
All Rooms
- PA [message]: Send a message through the ship via the PA system.
- DUCT: Enter the duct system.
- BOLT [item]: Bolt items to the ship's deck semi-permanently (only applies to certain items).
- PEER OUT: Look outside the ship through its viewports.
- LOCK [ship name] and UNLOCK [ship name]: Lock and unlock the ship's hatch.
